My name is Alexander Preuss, i am an artist in traditional and digital media. I was born in Aachen Germany, where i live again since 2008 and be an employee at Egosoft Game Studios in Würselen where i work as Art Director and Lead Artist.
In 1990 i took an apprenticeship as a mechanist at the ‘Aachener Maschienenbau Gmbh’ company, a large German industrial engineering firm. Throughout my life, my Father convinced me to finish projects i have started, even though i wanted to become an artist so badly. I didn’t quit and I stayed for some years, gathering a good wage. I still keep this advice in my live and within my projects.
With my first earned money, i bought myself an AMIGA 2000 and the painting software D-Paint 2, and i began creating a lot of images... mostly inspired from games and Movies i liked.
It was 1994 where one of my friends showed some of my works to the CEO of Egosoft GmbH; Bernd Lehahn... and not so far after the first meeting i got my first job to work on an upcoming advertising game... it was a about a young guy who discovers a conspiracy at his school and with some evil guys and of course tomato ketchup… i did not much visuals for this game and it was my first job in the computer game industry, but more or less just on a freelance basis.
Short time later i was hired from Egosoft for a larger Project and became the Art Director of the company and worked at Egosoft until 2002 when i left the company due to personal reasons.
In 2002 i moved to Krefeld and started at the it company Image Arts Gmbh as Jr. Art Director working most of the time at designing websites for their clients but also doing animations for TV advertisements and architecture companies. In 2008 i felt that wanted to achieve more and moved to a new FX Studio in Düsseldorf which i don't want to name here... lets say it like this... thinks went not so well there and i had to decide where i wanted to go. I had job offers from USA, ISLAND, and due to some lucky events also again from Egosoft GmbH.
So... i went back to Aachen and started there first as concept artist and 3D artist... but became after a short while again the position as the lead artist of the company and i am still there.
During all these years i also worked on a lot of personal projects which brought me some international awards and also some job offers from publishers all over the world.
Meanwhile a lot of my works are featured by publishers like, Bastei Lübbe, Centipede Press, Subterran Press, Interplanar Productions, Universal Music Group, Infrasonics, Blackstone Studios - Dubai and a lot more...
I like Lego, movies, videogames, motorcycle driving, swimming, a beer after work, my Wacom, and to be a creative person, and i don't like people who are arrogant, ignorant, frustrated with their whole live or just simple stupid.
